Welcome to Spring 2.

There are lots of exciting topics and projects for us to learn about, and you can find more information about these in the curriculum letter.

Our School Value for this half term is Kindness, which is linked to our Star of the Week. At our school, kindness means caring for others, using thoughtful words and actions, helping when we can, and showing understanding and compassion every day.

Below you will find the Year 2 curriculum letter and homework for this half term. This has also been uploaded to Google Classroom. You can upload homework to Google Classroom, or children can bring it into school when it is due.

Please remember to use the class email for non-urgent messages.

Year 2 Team   

Great Fire of London Workshop 

Year 2 had an exciting and immersive day taking part in a Great Fire of London Workshop! In the morning, the children travelled back to 1666, spending time weaving, making candles, and writing with quills and ink. They also enjoyed role-playing different characters from the time, bringing history to life in a fun and creative way. In the afternoon, the children became archaeologists, digging through dirt to uncover clues and artefacts linked to the Great Fire of London. It was a fantastic day full of hands-on learning, curiosity, and discovery!

Singing Festival

Our Year 2 class had an amazing time at the singing festival with lots of other schools. They sang songs inspired by the book Giraffes Can’t Dance and even learnt some fun dance routines to go with the music. Everyone joined in with big smiles, loud voices, and brilliant enthusiasm. We are so proud of how confidently they performed.   

Synagogue Visit                  

Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Sha’arei Tsedek Synagogue, where they learned about Judaism and Jewish traditions. The children listened carefully and were able to ask lots of thoughtful questions about the religion and the synagogue. The pupils especially loved trying some delicious challah bread and really enjoyed the memorable experience.
