Cromer Road Primary School

Year 1

Dear Parents/Carers

It feels like Spring has arrived!

All of the Year 1 children have settled back into the routines of year 1 really smoothly this week. They have shown great resilience and motivation which has been reflected in their learning.

The Year 1 team are really excited to get started with all of the wonderful learning that will take place this half term. It's a very short half term so we are going to be very busy.  In English we will be looking at two very exciting books, 'Beegu' written by Alexis Deacon and 'Jamela's Dress' by Niki Daly.  We will also be writing poetry about colour based on our senses. Don't forget we will also look at a special book during book week! In maths we will focus on place value with numbers up to 50 and we will then focus our attention on measuring, length and height, mass and weight and capacity and volume.

Below you will find information on what we will be covering this half term, including our projects. Please have a look at the Home Learning Grid to find this half term's homework. There is also a timetable of the phonics that the children will be learning this half term.

This half term, our focus school value will be "kindness'.
